Arkansas NCTA presents "Centering Southeast Asia: Teaching Modern Vietnam," a virtual pedagogical workshop taking place on June 16. This workshop offers an exciting opportunity for educators to learn about the history, culture, and politics of modern Vietnam. Register here!
This hybrid workshop (featuring 3 hours of synchronous instruction over zoom and 3 hours of exploration and lesson planning activities via Google classroom) introduces teachers to the history, culture, and politics of Vietnam, offering essential context, classroom-ready teaching materials, and thought provoking lesson plans that engage popular topics like colonialism and the Vietnam War from perspectives within Southeast Asia. Drawing on experts in Southeast Asian and American history, the workshop will connect teachers to important collections of primary sources and is intended for Grade 6 - 12 teachers in geography, world history, world literature, and civics courses.
WHEN: Synchronous session Friday, June 16, 8:30 AM -11:30 AM; Asynchronous materials due Friday, June 30
WHERE: Virtual via Zoom and Google Classroom
AUDIENCE: Grade 6-12 social studies and language arts teachers will benefit the most, but all are welcome!
